Growing Vegetables

Beetroot

I love freshly cooked beetroot - it brings back wonderful childhood memories of mum in the kitchen.

Beetroot grows quite quickly and will grow for most of the year except in very hot or dry weather conditions.

Soak your seeds overnight and plant them in your seedling tray, each in their own little pot (a small yoghurt container, with the bottom cut out, pressed to the bottom of the tray). When you plant them out be very careful not to disturb the roots and plant them 18cm apart in well-composted soil and water once or twice weekly.
