How to Grow Herbs

Chives

Chives are best grown from seed or through clump division. Plant your young plants 30cm apart in full sun, in well-dug, well-composted soil.

Water them well until they are well established. Plant chives next to vegetables, especially next to carrots and parsley and it should keep your vegetables mostly pest free.

As a Kitchen Herb

Chopped chive leaves and flowers are delicious in salads, sauces like a white sauce, dips, scrambled eggs and even in omelettes.

As Medicinal Herb

Did you know that chives work just like a natural antibiotic and it is also great immune booster? So add loads of it to your salads and sandwich fillings.
